I know a group of Ethiopian women. Sometimes they feel like the same person, or so it
seems. For example, when they pick up the phone, you never know if you’re talking to the
eldest, or the youngest, the middle one, or the one in between the middle and the eldest.
They share the same love language: suitcases filled with spices, salad dressings, sweets,
and stories are carried across the globe.
The differences, however, live in the details. In the way one stands. The way another turns, or holds a spoon. Singularity is often soft-spoken. Clothes behave like this too. The same dress is never the same. Tied differently. Draped differently. Lived in differently. It does not repeat itself.
This dress was made in that knowledge. I can’t wait to see you wear it — to see your sister wear it.
